This month, we’re highlighting our own top sales rep: Kevin Flores. From Knoxville, TN, Kevin is a huge movie fan and lives with his goldendoodle, Pepsi.
What drew you to sales?
I don’t consider myself a “born salesman” as some people would say. I have to work a little harder, but I found myself drawn to the position anyway. I saw potential to grow as both a person and a professional. This kind of knowledge and experience is invaluable. I’m lucky to part of a great team and I’m excited to see where this goes as we continue to grow as a company.
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned as a sales rep?
Be yourself! I’ve done office-type work for 10 years. Ranging from entry level positions to management level. In that time, I was conditioned to always keep a customer service mindset. It’s a great skill but can sound robotic when translating to sales. I find that being myself, a real person, makes it much easier to relate and connect with my prospective buyer.
What’s the biggest misconception about sales?
I’m a big movie buff. I usually see things where someone is being handed a script, a cubicle, and then they’re treated like a number. I’m happy to report that it’s not the case at all, at least not at SalesIntel. Everyone has been so kind and welcoming. At this stage in my life, I’ve experienced a few different work cultures and this is easily one of the best.
What do you love about sales?
What I’m loving about the position is the changing landscape. The sales mindset is constantly evolving and it’s moving away from “How can I close this deal” to “How can I help this this person or this company”. I may not be a natural salesman but helping people is something I can really get behind.
